Modern Standard Arabic question--interrogative particle 'a?
Hi, I am studying Modern Standard Arabic (al-fus-ha), and I noticed in my book Elementary Modern Standard Arabic Vol. 1 on p. 135 It has the sentence (in Arabic) for "Is he from Beirut?" and it is written (sorry can't type Arabic on here): 'ahwa min bairuuta ? Is this correct? I thought it would be: 'ahuwa min bairuuta ? That is, with the damma on the haa' instead of a sukkun. I hope this makes sense. I know it would be easier if I could type in Arabic on here!!! But hopefully you understand what I mean.

yes the ''damma'' should be on the -haa- .but you know it'a sometimes omitted but never is replaced with a sukun ,so let me write it in Arabic script :
أهُـوَ مِـن بـيـروت ؟
