help me pick a cam 350 chevy/gm?
ok so here we go, ill list my parts and plans and see if you guys can help me out here.
i have a set of pro comp heads (190cc Intake Runners, 64cc, 2.02 and 1.60 valves, Straight plug, Ported and Polished) a Edelbrock Performer RMP intake, Holly 660 cfm carb, northern auto parts rebuild kit with high vol. pump and steel shaft, Flat top skirted pistons, and for headers are just off the shelf nothing special bolt ons, and the block is decked at zero and 30 over bore.
now for this motor im shooting for 400 i know i may fall short but thats ok but what i need is a cam that is good for 1000 or 1500 rpm to some where like 5500 or 6500 rpm,
i was think like comp extreme energy? maybe so maybe not, o and its a hydro not roller. thanks guys
That combo should hit 400 HP easy, in fact I wouldnt be shocked to see 425 or 450 out of it with right cam
The flat tops from that northern kit is -8.76cc (I had them in my 505 HP 355 till I cracked one of the ring lands and crown)
compression ratio will be right around 9.95:1 give or take a tad depending on head gasket thickness used
You want a dual pattern cam, 110 or 112 LSA, something in the range of 220 or 222* intake @ .050" and around 230* @.050 exhaust duration, and with lift in the .480 to .525" range (again with more on exhaust side than intake)
You will need timing around 32 to 34* total for best power
Back that engine with a 2800-3000 stall torque converter if auto trans and at least a 3.42 gear ratio
